Title III – Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students
The Title III program awards funds to state subgrantees for the purpose of implementing language instruction educational programs designed to
- increase the English proficiency of limited English proficient students in a way that results in high levels of academic performance in core academic subjects, and
- provide high-quality professional development to classroom teachers, principals, administrators, and other school or community-based organizational personnel in a way that improves services to LEP students.
In collaboration with the Texas Education Agency, the Education Service Center, Region 2 provides three state professional development conferences for Title III funding recipients which focus on the management of the district’s Title III educational program, a discussion of critical issues in the education of limited English proficient (LEP) students, and the identification of instructional strategies designed to increase the academic achievement of LEP students.
